At Tri-Lakes Contracting LLC, we specialize in making monolithic dome dreams a reality. We're a full-service general contractor based in Colorado with a track record of successfully building dome homes in some of the most rugged and remote parts of the West. From site feasibility studies and permitting to full interior finish work, we handle every part of your dome build — except for the dome shell itself.
That piece is built by our strategic partner, Monolithic Constructors Inc., the original innovators behind the dome building system.
If you’re planning to build a dome home in Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, or beyond, we’re the team to call.
We know there’s some confusion out there about who does what on a dome project. So let’s break it down:
When they’re done, you have a bare concrete dome shell. That’s where we come back in.
We take your dome from a concrete shell to a fully finished home.
Building a dome is not like building a stick-frame home. It’s different — and in the construction world, "different" can often mean "challenging."
But that’s where we thrive.
1. We know how to get these permitted.
We've already done it. We've stood in front of planning commissions and building officials who had never seen a dome project before, and we walked them through the system. We know how to submit plans, answer questions, and push projects through departments that are unfamiliar with this kind of build.
2. We make financing easier.
Banks are more likely to approve financing when a licensed general contractor presents a full-scope bid. That package reassures the lender that the project will be completed properly. Owner-builders have a harder time getting loans because they present more risk. When we’re involved, banks take your project seriously.
3. We keep costs under control.
We work with local trades we know and trust. Subcontractors are far more likely to give competitive bids when they’re working with a GC they already have a relationship with. It also removes the "fear factor" — some subs overcharge on dome projects simply because they’re unfamiliar with the system. Once they’ve worked with us and seen how it’s done, the hesitation disappears.
4. We handle everything.
You don’t have to juggle excavation crews, plumbers, electricians, and finish carpenters. You just work with us. We manage the entire schedule and make sure all the parts come together at the right time.
5. We already have a successful dome build under our belt.
We built a stunning multi-dome project near the base of Pikes Peak — a challenging mountain location that required creativity, coordination, and deep knowledge of the dome system. That project is done, it’s permitted, and it stands as a shining example of what can happen when a dome-friendly general contractor takes the reins.
If you're serious about building a dome home that is fireproof, energy-efficient, and built to stand for generations, you're going to need a team that knows how to get it done. We work closely with Monolithic Constructors Inc. to handle the shell, and we take care of everything else.
From permits to paint, from driveway to drywall — we’re your builder.
